Community Road Use for Events

Community events are an excellent way to engage with your neighbourhood and encourage strong connections.

Norwood on Tour Children's Activities

A community event that requires a road closure or traffic management, is a joint effort and relies on the involvement of the Council and local residents. We encourage you to contact the Council to seek guidance on this process.

Temporary traffic management may be granted for community organised activities such as:

  • community events,
  • markets, or
  • street parties.

Public roads are the responsibility of local councils and include local roads, streets, laneways and walkways. If the planned event will have an impact on a public road you must first seek approval from the Council.

Arterial roads are the responsibility of the State Government. If the planned event will impact or will be held on an arterial road (please refer to list of arterial roads below) you will need to seek approval from the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT)

For more information on holding an event on or adjacent to public or arterial roads please view: Guidelines for Events on SA Roads
