Our Community Funding Program provides grants to support projects, events and activities that benefit the local community.

Applications open Friday 6 September 2024
Applications close Monday 14 October 2024, 5.00pm
Applicants notified of outcome By Monday 28 October 2024
Funded activity commencement November 2024
Funded activity completed by November 2025

Round 2 application will open in February 2025 (dates to be confirmed).

Applicants can apply for funding of up to $5,000 under the following funding categories:

Community Development

The Community Development funding supports the establishment of new programs, projects and/ or activites with a focus on community wellbeing outcomes.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be based in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

Applications will be accepted from:

  • Non-Government Organisations
  • Voluntary Associations
  • Community Groups & Organisations
  • Sporting & Recreation Clubs
  • Individuals under the auspice of a not-for profit group or organisation.

What can the funding be used for?

Costs associated with the delivery of new initiatives that aim to satisfy an unmet community need and wellbeing outcome(s).

 Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishment of a new group or organisation, which will benefit the broader community.
  • New community heath and/or wellbeing program or workshop.
  • Knowledge and capacity building for individuals and groups in eligible organisations.

Funding cannot be used for:

  • Payment of ongoing salaries or wages (not including instructors or tuition fees). Note: a position created for the length of the project/activity is considered eligible.
  • Recurrent operating costs (business as usual).
  • Building running costs (i.e. gas, electricity, water).
  • Capital works, renovations, ongoing maintenance or upgrading of facilities belonging to government bodies (including the Council)
  • Conferences and/or travel allowances/expenses.
  • Prize monies.
  • Fundraising activities/events.
  • Reimbursement of monies already spent.

Environment

The Environment category incorporates projects and activities that focus on addressing the Community’s impact on the environment.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be based in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

 Applications will be accepted from:

  • Non-Government Organisations
  • Voluntary Associations
  • Community Groups & Organisations
  • Sporting & Recreation Clubs
  • Individuals under the auspice of a not-for profit group or organisation.

What can the funding be used for?

Events

The Events category supports community as well as arts and cultural events with a broad appeal to the local and wider community.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be based in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

Applications will be accepted from:

  • Non-Government Organisations
  • Schools
  • Voluntary Associations
  • Community Groups & Organisations
  • Sporting & Recreation Clubs
  • Individuals under the auspice of a not-for profit group or organisation.
  • Event Organisers and Artists with an ABN

What can the funding be used for?

Costs associated with the delivery of new events within the Council’s boundaries that can be accessed by the wider community.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Events that celebrate significant occasions.
  • Events that showcase and increase access to arts experiences across all artforms, including but limited to performing art, moving image, digital art, and visual art.
  • Events that encourage cultural diversity or bring communities together.
  • Events that encourage community members to come and try new leisure or recreation activities.

Funding cannot be used for:

  • Payment of ongoing salaries or wages (not including instructors or tuition fees). Note: a position created for the length of the project/activity is considered eligible.
  • Recurrent operating costs (business as usual).
  • Building running costs (i.e. gas, electricity, water).
  • Capital works, renovations, ongoing maintenance or upgrading of facilities belonging to government bodies (including the Council)

Sport & Recreation

The Sport & Recreation funding encourages local clubs and groups to increase opportunities for physical activity, health, and wellbeing.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding, applicants must be based in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

Applications will be accepted from:

  • Community Groups & Organisations
  • Sporting & Recreation Clubs

What can the funding be used for?

Costs associated with the delivery of new physical activity, health, and wellbeing programs and initiatives within the Council’s boundaries that can be accessed by the wider community.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • New sport, recreation, and physical activity program.
  • Sport and recreation projects targeting disadvantaged groups.
  • Purchase of new equipment which increases the group or club’s capacity to deliver sport or recreation and/or physical activity programs.

Funding cannot be used for:

  • Payment of ongoing salaries or wages (not including instructors or tuition fees). Note: a position created for the length of the project/activity is considered eligible.
  • Recurrent operating costs (business as usual).
  • Building running costs (i.e. gas, electricity, water).
  • Capital works, renovations, ongoing maintenance or upgrading of facilities belonging to government bodies (including the Council)

Artistic & Cultural Programs

The Artistic & Culture Programs category supports artists at all career stages, as well as local not-for-profit arts and cultural groups and organisations, to deliver new arts and cultural projects or programs that make a positive and creative contribution to the City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding, outcomes must be based in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

Applications will be accepted from:

  • Artists under the auspice of a not-for profit group or organisation.
  • Artists with an ABN
  • Arts & Cultural Not-for-Profit Organisations
  • Non-Government Organisations
  • Schools
  • Voluntary Associations
  • Community Groups & Organisations

What can the funding be used for?

Costs associated with the delivery of new arts and cultural programs within the Council’s boundaries that can be accessed by the wider community.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Arts & cultural workshops or interactive opportunities.
  • Arts & cultural activities in non-traditional spaces and venues.
  • Opportunities for emerging artists.
  • Innovative arts and cultural projects.

Funding cannot be used for:

  • Payment of ongoing salaries or wages (not including instructors or tuition fees). Note: a position created for the length of the project/activity is considered eligible.
  • Recurrent operating costs (business as usual).
  • Building running costs (i.e. gas, electricity, water).
  • Capital works, renovations, ongoing maintenance or upgrading of facilities belonging to government bodies (including the Council)
  • Conferences and/or travel allowances/expenses.

Artistic Development

The Artistic Development category provides the opportunity for emerging and established artists, located in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, to participate in development and learning activities.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding, outcomes must be based in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

 Applications will be accepted from:

  • Artists with an ABN
  • Arts & Cultural Not-for-Profit Organisations
  • Non-Government Organisations
  • Voluntary Associations
  • Community Groups & Organisations
  • Individuals under the auspice of a not-for profit group or organisation.

What can the funding be used for?

Costs associated with participating in and/or delivering artistic development and learning activities. 

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge and capacity building for individuals and groups in eligible organisations.
  • Learning and skill development, which aim to build artist’s skills to benefit community organisations, programs, or projects.
  • Mentoring initiative for emerging artists to support the delivery a community outcome.

Funding cannot be used for:

  • Payment of ongoing salaries or wages (not including instructors or tuition fees). Note: a position created for the length of the project/activity is considered eligible.
  • Recurrent operating costs (business as usual).
  • Building running costs (i.e. gas, electricity, water).

Public Art

The Public Art category provides the opportunity for emerging and established artists, located in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, to create public artworks within the public realm. 

Who can apply?

To be eligible for funding, outcome must be based in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

 Applications will be accepted from:

  • Artists under the auspice of a not-for profit group or organisation.
  • Artists with an ABN

What can the funding be used for?

Costs associated with the development and installation of new public artworks that are accessible by the public.   

 Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Temporary public artworks (including murals, sculptures, and ephemeral artworks).
  • Collaborative public arts projects between artists and the community.
  • Public art that develops vibrant public places, which express local identity and meet local need.

Funding cannot be used for:

  • Payment of ongoing salaries or wages (not including instructors or tuition fees). Note: a position created for the length of the project/activity is considered eligible.
  • Recurrent operating costs (business as usual).
  • Building running costs (i.e. gas, electricity, water).
