Senior Compliance Officer

Annual salary starting at $89,121 + Statutory Superannuation
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is an inner eastern metropolitan Council, nestled on the outskirts of the CBD. The area enjoys a reputation as one of Adelaide’s most desirable places to live, work, study and visit.
The Role
Working under the general direction of the Team Leader, Regulatory Services, the Senior Compliance
Officer provides advice and support regarding a range of regulatory matters and complaints, legislation, Council By-laws and investigations, together with training and mentoring of staff.
This involves:
• Undertaking duties as an Authorised Officer of the Council, conducting investigations & enforcement, resolving enquiries and complaints
• Supporting the team to resolve complex animal management, parking management and general regulatory compliance matters
• Assisting with training and mentoring staff, coordinating the day-to-day rostering of the team and contractors
• Maintaining and updating relevant systems

This involves:
• Prior experience in a similar role within Local or State Government
• You thrive in an environment where each day is different, bringing new challenges and opportunities to problem-solve
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and a thorough understanding of animal and parking management including issuing orders, expiation notices and directions
• Well-developed investigative skills and confidence interviewing, gathering evidence and maintaining accurate records and statements
• Excellent communication and customer service skills and effective time management skills
• Leading by example and being confident to assist with training and mentoring of staff
